Bench testing
Subsequently every engine will be tested for oil pressure, oil flow and compression (exc. short block engines) on a spin tester. The machine will provide oil pressure equally to an oil pump while the crankshaft will be spun at approx. 800 rpm to simulate idle speed.
With the engine “idling“ the mechanic will be checking oil pressure, compression of each cylinder and equal oil flow on all rocker arm assemblies and other important lubrication spots. After passing the spin test all main and rod bearing caps will be opened and bearings visually inspected for any signs of wear before being retorqued to specs and marked with yellow ink.
